-MonacoGamma Loader Crashes on Startup - - The FixQ: I've just installed a new version of Profiler. Now my MonacoGamma utility crashes on startup. What can be the cause? How can I fix this error?
A: MonacoGamma may crash on launch if you have installed a newer Monaco monitor profiling tool in place of an older Monaco application. Conflict arises due to the presence of both old and newer DLL files. There are two ways to resolve this:
- Use only the latest version of MonacoGamma -
- Delete the shortcut to MonacoGamma in "Start>All Programs>Startup" folder.
- Create a new display profile with the your newest Monaco software.
- Force MonacoGamma to use local versions of shared libraries and avoid the conflict -
- Right click on the shortcut to MonacoGamma in "Start>All Programs>Startup" folder and then left-click on "Properties" and click on the "Shortcut" tab.
- In the "Target" field will be the path to the version of MonacoGamma being used.
- Navigate to that folder.
- Using Notepad, create an empty text file.
- Rename this file "MonacoGamma.exe.local".
The presence of this ".local" file will force the gamma loader utility to use local versions of any DLLs that it requires. In other words it will search its own folder prior to using registered DLLs in the system folder.
The best solution is really to do both: make sure you are using the latest software and make sure the crash doesn't occur in the future.
