-MonacoOPTIXXR not being seen by software (Windows only)

The MonacoOPTIXXR monitor colorimeter is compatible with the following software:

  • MonacoEZcolor 2.6 and later
  • MonacoOPTIX Standard 2.0 and later
  • MonacoOPTIX Pro 2.0 and later

If you are using one of these applications and it is unable to connect to your device, make sure the MonacoOPTIXXR is connected directly to a USB port on the computer. Un-powered hubs and some powered hubs are not able to supply enough power to the colorimeter. If the device is still not found after re-launching the application use the procedure below for your operating system.

Windows XP and Windows 2000

  1. Locate the My Computer icon on your Desktop or in the Start menu.
  2. Right-click on My Computer and then left-click on Properties in the list that is displayed.
  3. In the System Properties window, choose the Hardware tab and then click on the Device Manager button.
  4. In the Device Manager window, expand the "Universal Serial Bus controllers" list and look for an item named "X-Rite DTP94" with an exclamation point next to it. This indicates that the driver was not properly installed.
  5. Right click on "X-Rite DTP-94" and choose Update Driver....
  6. In the Hardware Update Wizard window that appears, make sure "Install the software automatically" is selected and click on the Next button.
  7. If a window pops up stating that the X-Rite DTP94 software has not passed Windows Logo testing, click on the Continue Anyway button.
  8. When the Hardware Update Wizard has finished installing the software, click on the Finish button.
  9. When you return to the Device Manager, there should no longer be an exclamation point next to "X-Rite DTP94." This indicates that the driver was properly installed. You can now close the Device Manager and System Properties windows.
  10. When you restart your application, it will be able to communicate with your MonacoOPTIXXR.

Windows ME

  1. Right-click on the My Computer icon on your Desktop and then left-click on Properties in the list that is displayed.
  2. Choose the Device Manager tab and look for an entry named "Other devices" and expand it to show all the items. The item labeled "X-Rite DTP94" should have an exclamation point next to it.
  3. Select "X-Rite DTP94" and click the Properties button.
  4. On the General tab of the X-Rite DTP94 Properties window, click Reinstall Driver.
  5. In the Update Device Driver Wizard window that appears, make sure "Automatic search for a better driver" is selected and click the Next button.
  6. Windows will scan for your hardware and reinstall the driver. When it is done, click the Finish button.
  7. Click the Close button to close the X-Rite DTP94 Properties window and return to the Device Manager tab of the System Properties window.
  8. Click on the + symbol next to "Universal Serial Bus controllers" in the Device Manager list to display all the connected devices. If you were successful, you should see "X-Rite DTP94" listed without an exclamation point next to it.
  9. Click OK to close the System Properties window.
  10. When you restart your application, it will be able to communicate with your MonacoOPTIXXR.

Windows 98 Second Edition

  1. Right-click on the My Computer icon on your Desktop and then left-click on Properties in the list that is displayed.
  2. Choose the Device Manager tab and look for an entry named "Other devices" and expand it to show all the items. There should be an item labeled "USB Device" with an exclamation point next to it.
  3. Right-click on "USB Device" and choose "Properties" and then click the Reinstall Driver button.
  4. When the Update Device Driver Wizard window appears, click the Next button.
  5. On the next page where you are asked "What do you want Windows to do?", make sure "Search for a better driver than the one your device is using now." is selected and click the Next button.
  6. On the next page, make sure none of the search locations are checked and click the Next button.
  7. Windows should then locate the proper driver and notify you that it found one for "X-Rite DTP94" at C:\WINDOWS\INF\XRUSB.INF. Click the Next button to install the driver.
  8. When Windows has finished installing the driver, click the Finish button.
  9. Close the X-Rite DTP94 Properties window by clicking on Close button.
  10. In the System Properties window, expand the list under "Universal Serial Bus controllers." You should now see "X-Rite DTP94" listed there without an exclamation point. This means the device is now installed properly. Click OK to close the System Properties window.
  11. When you restart your application, it will be able to communicate with your MonacoOPTIXXR.
