Included in the download archive are two files:  the firmware file, "DTP20_FB01.hex" and a detailed installation guide in PDF format. The download archive is available in either a ZIP (PC) or a SITx (Mac)  format. Note that you must use ToolCrib version 5.0.7 or later to update the instrument with this newer firmware.

Note that there is no need to update instrument firmware if it is working to your satisfaction.  While an update may add or enhance features or remedy instrument performance issues, it is inherently dangerous.  Should the process fail due to a loss of power or connectivity, the instrument will be rendered inoperative and will require factory repair.

Firmware version FB01 introduces two new functions to the DTP20:

• Enables support for Density output (A, E, I, and T Statuses with V, C, M, and Y output)

• Added support for simple-strip mode, which allows scanning of single-strips without having to scan a TID.  This feature includes the addition of the Define Strip (DS) and Patch Variance (PV) commands.

It is likely that both of these functions will be incrementally added to X-Rite and X-Rite partner solutions. If your instrument is working properly, and your software does not require the update, there is no reason to update your firmware at this time.
