Can My Monitor be Profiled with MonacoEZcolor?

Q: I downloaded the LUT tester from your website to see if my video card (Sapphire Radeon 9600, based on ATI's Radeon 9600 chip) was compatible (see Related Support). The test box did not change to gray during the test, therefore I am assuming my card does not support LUT. How will this affect my calibration and if it does affect it dramatically, what specific video card can you suggest as it is very difficult to determine what cards will support LUT.

A: It is impossible to calibrate a display without being able to manipulate the LUT in the video card.  Sadly, ATI broke their support that allowed altering the color LUT with version 4.2 of their driver set. Note however, that it is still possible to download the older version 4.1 from their web site. This version does not exhibit the problem you are having. You might also check with ATI to see if they have resolved the problem in a more recent release.
