Vincent Versace
Vincent Versace is the best selling author of Welcome to Oz: A Cinematic Approach to Digital Still Photography. He is a recipient of the Computerworld Smithsonian Award in Media Arts & Entertainment and his work is part of the Smithsonian Institution's Museum of American History. He’s also a Shellenberg fine art award winner and a six-time nominee to the Photoshop Hall of Fame. So Vincent Versace speaks with authority when he proclaims: “It’s the ownership of color that’s most important.”
Vincent goes on to explain that in today’s digital imaging revolution – which offers everyone new ways to explore creativity – having the right color-managed environment in which to be creative is absolutely paramount.
“Color management is as significant as having creative vision, and a calibrated monitor is the first step to realizing that vision. Consider how often the photo you took isn’t at all what comes up on the computer screen, and you soon realize just how critical it is.“
A highly regarded speaker and teacher, Vincent is a member of the National Association of Photoshop Professional’s "Instructor Dream Team" and teaches regularly at Photoshop World as well as being a regular instructor at the Maine Photographic Workshops and Palm Beach Photographic Workshops.
“My goal is to save someone from spending hours of frustration, not to mention money, by avoiding ‘trial and error’ methods. This holds true for professional photographers, too. How many prints do you need to develop before you get it right? When you are talking about fine art printing, it shouldn’t be more than one,” he explains.
Vincent uses an X-Rite i1iSis to handle high-end profiling and travels with an X-Rite i1Display 2 and ColorMunki Photo. “If I have to, I can profile on the go,” Vincent says.
