It was always part of my editorial background. But it became especially important when I started to work with galleries.
What is the most important aspect of color management that an aspiring photographer should know?
Calibration!
Give an example of the ways in which a solid knowledge of color management (or an accurate color environment) helped you – on a project? In a consultancy situation?
When working with my printer based in Hong Kong – and myself currenty based in Turkey – it was of utmost important that we both were working with calibrated screens.

They have been recommended to me by professionals in the industry and so far it’s been easy and great working with them.
How important are the latest color management tools in today’s industry? Why?
They have greatly improved over the last 10 years.
What does the (near) future hold for the photo industry, in your opinion? Do you think color management will be more or less important – why?
It will continue to have great importance – be it for printed or web-based images.
How is color management related to your artistic process?
It is essential in printing fine Art images – as well as editorial work.
Do you see color management as an advantage for saving money?
Well – yes. When you are sure about how your image is going to look printed, you have less chances of wasting paper – you avoid any trial and error situation.
