-Profiled Image Looks Like Mud on CRT

Q: After converting my on-screen image (using Photoshop 7, image originally scanned in Silverfast, in Adobe RGB working space) to the printer profile, things end up looking like mud on-screen. Shouldn't the printer profile convert from Silverfast's Adobe RGB working space in to the printer profile without needing further edit? What am I doing incorrectly?

A: Your printer will never be able to reproduce all the colors you can capture with your scanner or represent in the Adobe RGB (1998) color space. Note however that using the perceptual rendering intent will help compress those colors into your printer's space and should maintain the overall look and feel of the image. You should also make sure you had all color controls turned off in your scanner and printer driver when creating and using your profiles. Failure to do so will result in unexpected and poor results.
