-Odd Results after Calibrating My LCD MonitorQ: I used my MonacoEZcolor v2.5 and MonacoOPTIX for the first time to calibrate my LCD Monitor and am getting odd results. First, the recommended brightness settings are really dim (40%) which doesn't seem normal. Second, although the profile I made for the 6500K white point is OK, when I tried to make one for 9200K it turned the screen really blue after the end of the Color Patches measurement.
A: [1] The brightness and contrast setting procedure used in MonacoEZcolor v2.5 is designed to eliminate the possibility of highlight clipping on an LCD with an analog connection. If your display is connected digitally, there is no risk of this problem. The procedure has been changed in our later releases to better handle some of the newer displays. You can accomplish the same task by checking that you are not losing highlight detail at your preferred brightness and contrast settings. [2] A white point of 9300 Kelvin will appear much bluer when compared to one set to 6500 Kelvin. A white point of 5000 Kelvin will appear more yellow when compared to 6500 Kelvin or 9300 Kelvin.
