This online course was created by our training development team that includes writing and multimedia staff with the important contribution of our X-Rite Color Experts.These instructors are drawn from a wide variety of industries where color is critical: design, prepress, and a wide variety of printing; digital, signage, offset, flexo and more.
If you are new to Onyx X10 software, this is an essential course. Users with prior knowledge to Onyx will also find some good tips and tricks including some Advanced Black Diamond features. The course offers a self-paced environment to fully understand the complete process of profile generation. X-Rite also provides a 2 day ONYX Workflow Workshop that teaches you to optimize ONYX in your specific workflow, including proper file preparation, Preflighting, and print.
Become fast, efficient and effective when using X10 with this e-learning course. Applicable to nearly every user, this course will help you navigate Media Manager, understand color workflows and successfully build profiles with X10.

This eLearning course is divided into six sections outlined below. The course also includes an animation illustrating common Print Defects relating to over-inking issues that you may encounter.
Each interactive session builds on key concepts within the profiling process.
- Introduction -
This first module will introduce you to the ONYX ProductionHouse X10 RIP-Queue and Media Manager. You will learn how to create a new media profile, set your basic media profile settings, and set your basic print mode settings.
- Ink Restrictions -
Ink Restrictions will print each ink channel (cyan, magenta, etc.) from 0 to 100% to determine where to limit each individual channel.
- Calibration -
Calibration, or linearization, sets your printer to a known specified condition.
- Ink Limits -
This step sets the maximum total ink levels for all of your inks combined and determines how much ink your media can handle.
- ICC Profile -
This final module will take you through the final steps of building your ICC Profile. ICC build options will also be discussed.
- Additional Resources -
While creating a media profile, there are a number of print defects relating to over-inking that you may encounter. This animation will illustrate some of the more common ones you should be aware of.
